Matthew LaPine is from Duluth, Minnesota. He is the Director of Discipleship Equipping at Citylight Church in Omaha, NE. He has served as an adjunct professor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2018-22) and Reformed Theological Seminary (2022), teaching Old and New Testament, Theology, Hermeneutics, Ethics, Apologetics, and Theological Foundations of Counseling. He holds a PhD from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL) under Kevin Vanhoozer.
His dissertation, published as The Logic of the Body with Lexham Press in 2020, was a finalist for Christianity Today’s book of the year in Theology and Ethics in 2021. He writes on theology and mental health and is working to bridge the gap between church and seminary by teaching theology within the local church.
